High-protein 30 Minute Burger Buns

Super quick and easy to make, free from trans fats, sugars and yeast. Can choose your own flour and seed toppings too! If you're unable to eat greek yogurt, dairy free yogurts such as coconut yogurt work well too :)


Ingredients.

  • 1/2 cup low fat greek yogurt

  • 1/2 cup flour of choice + extra for dusting and kneading

  • 1 tsp garlic granules

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1/4 tsp xanthan gum (optional, improves texture in the absence of yeast)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • egg wash: 1 whisked egg (will only use 1/3)

  • top with chia and sesame seeds


Takes: 30 minutes

Makes: 2 burger buns

173 calories per bun, 23g carbs 12g protein.


Method.

  1. Combine burger bun ingredients in a mixing bowl, and knead for 5 minutes.

  2. Knead into two burger bun shaped balls, flatten with the palm of your hand and place onto parchment paper on a baking tray.

  3. Use a silicone baking brush to coat the buns with your egg wash (1 egg) and top with chia and sesame seeds.

  4. Bake at 180 degrees for 20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked throughout.

  5. Leave to cool for 5-10 minutes, then slice, fill and enjoy!
